I had this idea in my sketchbook for a while, roots, growing into some sort of wood, then growing into wood planks. I really like how it turned out. I'll be using it as further inspiration to make other pieces. I took a pic of the pot upside down because I think it even looks good upside down.
I love it, i too am a fan of roots and trees, well translated from drawings to object.How do you make them?
ReplyDeleteMy sketches are so vague, but just enough to bring back the mental images I had. I throw the basic shape on the wheel, then manipulate it with my hands and some tools. The carved parts are usually solid clay when I start. Then I gradually over hours and sittings carve away the negative space of the idea from my head.
